About Us
Memories Unlimited, Inc. began with my mother, Martha Wittgow, a sewing machine, and a heart for helping families.
In 1981, she founded our woman-owned company by sewing baby bonnets for hospitals to give to new parents. When close friends experienced a devastating infant loss, she recognized a need for thoughtful, personal ways to care for grieving families. My father, Bill, joined her in researching and developing our first Memory Box™. Over the years, my sisters, our husbands, and I became part of the business, and caring for other families became part of our own family’s story.
From those beginnings, our work has grown to support families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss, as well as the loss of loved ones of all ages. Our collection has grown, too, bringing together meaningful keepsakes and practical care items that help families preserve memories and help caregivers offer comfort, respect, and dignity.
As the youngest of their three daughters, I’ve had the privilege of being part of Memories Unlimited for 25 years. My parents have since retired, and for the past eight years, I have carried their legacy forward—with the same mission and the same heart. The care they put into this work continues to guide me every day.
What began as a family business remains a family business. Behind every order is someone hoping to care for another person in a meaningful way. When you reach out to us, we take the time to listen, answer your questions, and help you find what best meets your needs.
Whether an item helps a family capture a handprint, dress and hold their baby, receive a loved one’s belongings with care, or keep treasured mementos close, its purpose is deeply personal. We give thought to both the family receiving it and the caregiver offering it. We understand that each family’s experience is different, and that caregivers work within different needs and budgets. These considerations remain at the heart of our work.
We also hold close the needs of those providing care. Their experience is different from the family’s, but loss can leave caregivers carrying grief, difficult emotions, and sometimes the impact of traumatic moments. When an outcome cannot be changed, it can be hard to know what more to offer. Our bereavement tools give caregivers a tangible way to express compassion and help a family through those moments. We hope these acts of care also make room for caregivers to acknowledge their own emotions and find a measure of peace and closure, knowing they were able to offer something meaningful.
Our mission is still the one my parents established: first, serve the needs of the patient and family; second, serve the staff and caregivers. We strive to honor that mission through thoughtful products, personal service, and honest, caring relationships with our customers and suppliers.
Thank you for trusting our family to support yours—and the families in your care. It means so much to continue what my parents began and to help you express compassion through gestures that families can hold, remember, and carry with them.
They came to you for care…And left knowing that you do.” ™
